Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT
Nuclear cardiology plays an important role in the diagnosis, assessment and predictions of the heart diseases. The nuclear cardiology study uses non-invasive techniques to diagnose the heart function. The most widely used nuclear cardiology technique is myocardial perfusion imaging. A little amount of radioactive tracer is injected into the vein which the heart takes up. The computed tomography is used to create images of heart and the blood vessels. It is also called as coronary calcium scan if done to check the calcium build-up in the arteries.
